Important Dates
•1961: The Company was founded in the northern part of the country at
that time. The site of which was Al-Hudiadah under the name The Fuel
Company.
•After: 1962 Revolution, it was changed into Joint-Stock Company
between the Government and The Yemen Bank For Reconstruction &
Development.
•1969: The Private Establishment of Oil Products Distribution was
attached to the Local Market ( in the Southern & Western
Governorates) and joined to Cultix Company, Mobil Oil Iso, and B.B.
Company with the Founder, The Red Sea Shell.
•1970: The National Oil Company was founded in the south of the country
as a company subsidiary to The Oil Organization at that time.
•1972:
The law for setting up The General Establishment for the Oil &
the Mineral Wealth was issued, and The Fuel Company in the north of the
country became a unit subsidiary to The Establishment under the name
Yemen Oil Company.
•1974: The first basic system to the company with wide authorities,
including exploring & drilling of oil, was issued.
•1978: The General Management was completely shifted to Sana’a after
having been in Hudiadah since its foundation.
•1990: The Resolution of the Cabinet No. 191 of merging the two
companies into one company named Yemen Petroleum Company with a new
logo that is the logo of Yemen Petroleum Company was issued.
