A warm greeting from the Yemen Petroleum Company Branch in Al-Makha’a presented by Khalid Mohammed Ali A-Shadhly, General Director of the branch and the employees and labor force of Al-Makha’a Branch to the visitors of the Yemen Petroleum Company site who have come to view the establishment stages of the historical Al- Makha’a Branch for its location in the historical Al-Makha’a city for which our country Al-Yemen Al-Said has had a famous name from this city name (MokaKofi).

Short brief about Al-Makha’a Branch:

Al-Makha’a Branch is one of the most important and oldest branches of the company. It is located in the western coast strip of the Republic of Yemen. It had been constructed in the sixties of the previous century by the British Shell Company.

After the blessed revolution, two storage tanks were built by a specialized Russian Company. In 1976-1979, there was an expansion by the Romanian Rom Petrol Company. It was expanded again in 1981-1984 by the same company until its storage capacity reached 13,060 metric tons.

Geographical Coverage of Al-Makha’a Branch:

In the past, this branch had the role to supply Taiz, Ibb, and Dhamar governorates. Currently, it supplies the stations belonging to it to the north until Alkhokha and Habs directorates in Al-Hudaida governorate, and to the supplies until Bab Al-Mendib directorate. To the east, it supplies until Makbena directorate in Taiz governorate, Muza’a and Al-Wazia directorates.

In addition, it supplies the Ibb governorate and Al-Makha’a steam powered electrical station with heavy fuel oil.

Brief Information about Al-Makha’a City:

It was known in the past as MokaKofi, located in the south west of the Republic of Yemen on the red sea coast, its most important archaic sites are:

  • The Mosque and Tomb of Al-Shaikh\ Hasanain Omar Al-Shadhly.
  • The Turkish Ports and castles existing until today.

It was famous also in the past for the presence of foreign communities which were buying the Yemen Coffee and exported it through Al-Makha’a port to Europe and east Asian countries, and from this port, Yemen was known and made famous by the name of the coffee city ( Coffee Makha’a).
