Brief History about the Branch Foundation and Installations:

The Mahara branch was established on November 1, 1995 after the separation of the Nashtoon installation from the Aden branch. We established the installation in 1982 with (5) tanks with their accessories of pipes, infusers, pumps in addition to the safety and security system. The main branch activity was to supply the governorate with petroleum products such as gas cylinders and lubricants until the separation of gas service marketing from the company, so its service was limited to marketing petrol, diesel, home kerosene, and jet fuel.

From the development and enhancement stages which have been made, the assignment of a consulting team to study the maintenance and renovation of the installations in order to renovate, at a total cost of 1,403,674 US$. An amount of (870.957) US$ of it was designated to execute maintenance and reparation works of (5) tanks according to technical specifications signed upon and amount of (532.717) US$ to install the air-conditioning and foam system.

The company leadership gave attention to perform many projects for the Al-Mahara branch. Among these projects are:

First: Executed Projects:

1. Renovation and maintenance project of the Nashtoon Installation : Submission of some project items have been done with a performance percent of (95 %).
2. New company branch building project with additional works at a total amount of 32,030,030 YR.
3. Nashtoon Installation employee houses reparation project.
4. Laboratory building project plus the insulator wall in Al-Gaida airport.
5. Illumination project of the Nashtoon Installation.
6. Additional works in the new company branch building.

Second: Projects in Execution phase:

1. Project of construction of airplanes fueling tank in Al-Gaida airport. The total amount is 43,825,942 YR, and additional works to the project such as infusers, counters, and electrical connection. Execution percent is 95 %.
2. Project of construction of an ideal station in Al-Gaida with a total amount of 29,271,937 YR. Performance percent is 65 %.

Brief Information about the Governorate:

Al-Mahara governorate is considered to be the eastern gate of Yemen. It occupies an important strategic location. Its surface area is 93,000 km², with a population of 89,093. Al-Gaida city is considered as the capital of the governorate. For the climate, the moisture is in the range of 70-90 % for the coastal part, the temperature in winter is 18º-28º and in the desert reaches to 45º in the summer day, whereas, in the months June, July, August and September in the coastal regions, the weather is moderate, and they are\called the autumn months. And on this occasion, the autumn festival takes place in Houf each year.

Houf is a tourist region, because of the presence of natural edifices and the distinction of its climate in the months (June, August and September) by rain falling throughout these months. Its sky flocculates with clouds accompanied by drizzle and it became a natural protectorate in order to protect the forest in it in addition to an environmental variety which characterizes this directorate.
